Oprah is ending The Angel Network
As the Oprah Show is winding down, so is the Oprah Angel Network. The nonprofit organization, started by Oprah in 1998, will also be ending. The charity to date has given away $80 million, and if you remember, much of that money came directly from O herself. Funds were also raised from her loyal fans to help support a variety of causes. The network was an extension of the show, so I guess it's only natural for it to cease also. Although, if I were O, I wouldn't stop my nonprofit organization...after all, she does have her OWN network, so the charity really could carry over. But I am sure they have good reason, and I doubt Oprah will stop helping those in need.

Sex and the City 2: NYC Movie Premiere
Yesterday (May 24) was the Sex and the City 2 movie premiere at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. All I have to say is that I loved SJP's neon yellow Valentino Couture gown!! She was bold with her Ferragamo shoe choice. Kristin Davis donned a hot pink vintage Jean Dresses for Decades gown. Kim Cattrall played up her Samantha in a glittery gold Naeem Khan gown. Cynthia Nixon kept it simply chic in a black Carolina Herrera gown. All 4 ladies showed off their curves in flatter-figuring dresses.
Some people that stood out on the red carpet were Wendy Williams ("How you doin'?" I liked the look, minus the clutch color), Vanessa Williams (I thought the dress was too long and the shoes too sporty), Whitney Port (*sighs* to be young and skinny. She looked perfect!), Jessica Szohr (fierce jumpsuit, although the hem could've used a little tailoring), Gayle King (loved the colors, but not the ensemble), Candace Bushnell (ummm...she wrote SATC and shows up in that?), Jason Lewis (total hottie. He doesn't need commentary, just romantic ogling), Chris Noth (you have to respect Mr. Big), Jennifer Love Hewitt (Love Jennifer!!!), and Ashanti (it's just nice to see her out and about).
*thanks to the Examiner, Styleite, OK! Magazine, E! Online, Her Daily Fix, and The Fash Pack for all the photos.*

Silly Rabbit
I must admit, my love of bows and bunny ears has not gone away...even if the trend has. I was shopping at Forever 21 when I came across an accessory that brought me back to the Louis Vuitton Paris Fashion Week Runway Show, when Marc Jacobs sent the models down with oversized bunny ears. I will definitely be getting a pair, and they come in dark grey too (which looks more like a shiny silver).

Celebritazzi: Ellen Pompeo in Sonoma
I was checking my e-mails, and of course I get Us Magazine delivered to my inbox. What caught my eye to open it up was that Brittany Murphy's husband had died, and I was shocked. I guess I am way behind on my celeb news. Time really flies because I didn't know it's already been 6 months since we lost Brittany Murphy. Well, on the right hand side I saw this photo of Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) with her hubby Chris Ivery and their daughter Stella, 8 months. I just thought this was a cute photo, and Stella is just adorable. I just wanted to share this snapshot with all of you in case you hadn't seen it, or like me you had no idea how cute their baby is. They were photog'd Friday in Sonoma, CA.

How nouveau Janet!
I have to say, I am just loving Janet's new look. I think the hair cut is fierce! I know a lot of people have their opinions on it...but I think she looks refreshed, younger, and just in good spirits. Supposedly, she is dating a new wealthy man who she has been getting cozy with in London. I won't say names until I know it's confirmed. The top photo is one of the first photos of the new coif, but the red carpet photos are from the Why Did I Get Married Too? movie premiere in London. What do you think of Miss Jackson's crop?

Tres Jolie J.Lo
When I saw this picture of J.Lo, I literally gasped. She looks gorge! I love this Roberto Cavalli Couture gown on her. (I love gowns with dramatic endings) J.Lo, actually she should be called her full name since she looks ah-maze...Jennifer Lopez was photog'd outside of a hotel in France for the amfAR's Cinema Against Aids annual gala on Thursday.

Tyra Banks is IMG's Next Top Model
Our favorite smizer, Tyra, has re-signed with IMG Models. I kind of had a feeling she couldn't stay away for long. Since the model trend is shifting towards curvy and glamazon-esque, Tyra will feel right at home. I'm happy that she will be gracing the covers and signature walking down the runways again. Maybe she'll get her wings again for VS?

Mind Loop: Usher and Ciara
These two songs keep playing in my head...when I can't think of any other. They are just so catchy and definitely inspire some dance moves out of me.
Usher f. Will.i.am - O.M.G.
Ciara f. Ludacris - Ride
Honestly, Ciara needs to give dancing lessons...and the beat is hot. By the way, for this video, I applaud her for her personal grooming and exercise regimens. I wonder what would happen if we put Ciara and Beyonce in one video...?

Just Reading: Processed Meats May Pose Heart Health Risk
Okay, so I came across this article by ABC News about processed meats and how it increases your risk for heart disease and diabetes. I am a fan of hot dogs just as much as the next person, but this definitely has made me think twice. Here is an excerpt:
"The study published today in Circulation looked at 20 studies involving more than 1 million participants from 10 different countries. Researchers found that eating as little as 2 ounces of processed meat per day -- a few strips of bacon, a hot dog or smoked sausage -- increased the risk of heart disease by 42 percent and the risk of diabetes by 19 percent. Vanessa Williams Moves onto Wisteria Lane
Vanessa Williams is the newest neighbor on Wisteria Lane! I love love love it. She will be the newest housewife to join Desperate Housewives this new fall season. While the details of her character are a mystery, it is said that she will be playing a wicked housewife. Personally, I would love it if she played a Wilhelmina Slater role and gave Gabrielle Solis a run for her money (yes, I am nostalgic for Ugly Betty already). But I am just happy that Vanessa Williams is on another show that was already a part of my DVR line-up. Stay tuned...

Carrie On!
I think it's safe to say we are all synched on SATC 2 time. May 27th cannot get here fast enough. I have always thought of myself as the black Carrie in my group, so I am always looking for something Carrie-esque. (Thanks to Mary) I saw that DecorativeThings.com is catering to the Carrie in all of us. They have launched limited edition accessories in honor of the haute sequel, and keeping us chic (in case we too have to jetset to Morocco) and calm through any [fashion] crisis. As Carrie says, "When real people fall down in life, they get right back up and keep walking." In theme with their already popular British inspired phrase, Keep Calm and Carry On, they have taken the phrase to the Manolo level for us fashionistas: Keep Calm and Carrie On. (That's why I am using the first SATC 2 poster to Carrie On the theme.)
Large Canvas Tote. $20
Small Cosmetics Bag. $20.
All items come fully lined and are made in an easy to clean material. When it comes to living the chic city life, the accessories kind of make you think, WWCD? (What Would Carrie Do?)

Lena Horne: June 30, 1917 – May 9, 2010
Lena Horne, an American singer, actress, civil rights activist and dancer. She passed away on May 9th as a result of heart failure. She was 92.
I was really introduced to Lena Horne in my favorite movie, The Wiz, where she sings, If you believe. I know my mini-tribute to her comes late, but it was something I had to do. She was a woman of class and talent. A definite legend.

"I'm Throwing on my Louboutins!"
It has been so long since my last post. This poor Fashionisette has been sick and dealing with computer viruses, making updating you all a task. Finally I am feeling better and ready to dish. The biggest news I have to tell you is that I am FINALLY a proud owner of a pair of Christian Louboutins. If you are not a shoe-lover, then you cannot possibly understand the joy. There is quite a story behind it too.
So, on Tuesday, I was on Twitter, as usual, and one of my tweeps was writing about the Christian Louboutin Sample Sale. A sale which I knew of, but totally forgot to RSVP...I know, how does a shoe-holic forget to RSVP to one of the biggest sales?! Anyhoo, she was writing about the sale and how she was thrilled to be going. I, of course, felt sick. But she was so nice to let me be her +1 (because all who RSVP'd were granted an automatic plus). I show up to the sale, that was on W. 38th b/t 8th & 9th aves., only to get discouraged by the golden list-holding professional. She was telling everyone to basically go home if they even thought their name wasn't on the list. Well my group and I were a little nervous, and as we should have been, because lo and behold, we were not on the list (well, I wouldn't have been, but the group I was with wasn't). Not to mention, there were some nice cute gals who were trying to be anyone's +1 to get inside. Believe me, for a pair of Loubs, deals had to be cut.
After a little persuading, we were allowed to go upstairs to the 14th floor, the RED floor. Boxes of Loubs everywhere...all organized by sizes. There were 4 basic colors distinguishing the price. A yellow sticker was $100, orange was $250, blue was $325, and red was $400 and over. I won't lie, my wallet was intensely scanning for yellow and orange, and I thought all was lost. The ones that made my heart skip a beat were marked by blue or red. But, finally, after sweat, prayer, and squeezing into aisles I found a pair that me swoon.

This year, Fashion's Night Out will be held on September 10, 2010. Last year, my friends and I had so much fun going from party to party and store to store. So you definitely need to mark your calendar because this year will be better than ever.

Airport Landing with Bey and Jay
I meant to post this like a week ago, but since my PC was having technical difficulties and called in sick more days than I wanted it to, I am late with this photo. Beyonce and Jay-Z were photog'd coming out of an airport. Of more importance to me was Bey's outfit. This is certainly how I like to travel. And since my eye is always looking down at the footwear, I thought my ladies would love to know about Bey's shoes.
Her shoes are Alexander McQueen's canvas foldover boots. They are $1,085 and can be purchased at Net-a-Porter.

On the Agenda: Learning from the Greats - Audrey and Coco
There are 2 books that I need to add to my reading list. Summer is coming, and I always like to have light reads to get me through.
The Gospel According to Coco Chanel by Karen Karbo. In this book, Karen Karbo explores Chanel’s philosophy ranging from style to passion, from money and success to femininity and living life on your own terms. Coco defined class. Everytime you think about the word Chanel you think elegance and grace. I simply have to read the book and get inspired to not only improve my wardrobe, but enhance my lifestyle. You can purchase the book at Amazon.
How to be a Hepburn in a Hilton World by Jordan Christy. The title simply grabs me, not to mention I am a huge Audrey Hepburn fan. I think in this day and age, sophistication is replaced with sex appeal. I am interested in reading how Jordan covers diet, speech, work ethic, friends, relationships, manners, makeup and fashionable yet modest clothing, showing modern ladies how they can be beautiful, intelligent, and fun while retaining values and morals. You can also purchase the book at Amazon.

NEW VIDEO: Beyonce becomes a Desperate Housewife...
I cannot love Beyonce anymore than I do right now. I love the retro Bettie Page-esque theme and she just rocked this video out. Her and Lady Gaga make some of the most creative and talkable videos around. (Note to self: go to gym pronto!) Oh Bey...who doesn't love you?

Berry Single
The news of Halle and Gabriel's split shocked my world. This was one relationship that I thought would've lasted (at least longer than 4 years). According to People, Halle, 43, and Gabriel, 34, had split months ago, and it was Halle who ended it (which gives me some sort of consolation), supposedly because 'Gabriel wasn't carrying his weight.' At least the main focus between them is adorable Nahla and on raising her. Can I be honest? If I was with Gabriel, and I say this now of course based totally on his looks, I don't think I would be too concerned about the weight he wasn't pulling. And, if 2 hot people, such as Halle and Gabriel, can't stay together, then I don't know what hope there is for the rest of us...or maybe I will just speak for myself. LoL. In any case, the both of them, I'm sure will bounce back. I just want Halle to finally be happy in a lasting relationship.

What I Wore Today: Breakfast at Tiffany's 2010
So last night I watched a classic movie fave of mine, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and wanted to dress classic. I have nothing Marilyn Monroe-esque in my closet at the moment, so I thought I would channel another great: Audrey Hepburn. My favorite movie is Breakfast at Tiffany's, along with Funny Face and How to Steal a Million. Audrey's style is classy, elegant, and oozes poise. Today, for a hot Sunday, I decided to do my version of Audrey. If only I was really having breakfast at Tiffany's.
What I Wore:
- Sandra Darren black dress (with front and back pleating detail). Scooped it up from Marshall's.
- Kate Spade "Keeden" cobalt blue pumps. They are my fave! Got them at Marshall's for $99.
- Nine West cobalt blue handbag.
- Forever 21 faux pearl and tulle necklace.
