I Heart: ShoeTease

Eat, Pray, Loubi.

Special edition McQueen tribute tee.

I came across ShoeTease on Twitter, through my solefamily network. I am always "sole-searching" and fell in love with their tees! Why? Obviously because they talk about the one thing I love about fashion...SHOES! They have the cutest tagline too: Until shoes grow on trees, let's put them on Tees! How could you not love that? If you are a shoe-lover, like moi, then you will appreciate what ShoeTease is doing. I especially love their new designs like Eat, Pray, Loubi and their tribute to the ultimate shoe designer McQueen. In case your budget won't allow you to buy designer shoes, you won't feel guilty splurging on a tee featuring designer shoes designed by ShoeTease. The t-shirts are only around $22-$30, depending on the style (from tank top to long-sleeve). They have other designs, colors, and phrases, so you can show off your shoe style.

Viva la ShoeTease!

Review Me: Saint Cupcake

The pink box. It's here!
Thanks to a press event, I was introduced to Saint Cupcake. A wonderful bakery headquartered in Oregon, but that delivers fresh, homemade cupcakes right to your door. I was a little hesitant about getting cupcakes delivered, since I have never gotten food delivered before, but since cupcakes are the new craze these days, I decided to test them out. I can't even explain to you how happy I was when UPS rang my doorbell because I was in serious need of something sweet. I chose a 3-pack. My picks: chocolate, carrot, and vanilla. There are 10 different flavors to choose from and I wanted to stick with the basics as my trial run. Next, I picked my icings: vanilla buttercream, hot fudge, and chocolate buttercream. They offer 8 choices for icings! I had no rhyme or reason when picking my 3, but they just sounded so good. Now, it was on to sprinkles, 19 to choose from: toasted coconut, chocolate jimmies, and rainbow jimmies.

The box comes with cute instructions on how to enjoy.

My cupcake treats!
The box initiates happiness. It's a pink box with the Saint Cupcake logo on top. Pink is my favorite color, so I was all too giddy. Of course, my first pick to try was a chocolate cupcake with hot fudge icing, sprinkled with chocolate jimmies. My parents were intrigued so I had to share. My mom had the vanilla upcake with vanilla buttercream frosting and no sprinkles. My dad was left with the carrot cake cupcake...which is funny because he didn't eat it that night. A couple of days went by, and let's just say he never got to eat it. Hey, I needed another sweet tooth fix. I paired it partially with chocolate buttercream icing and the other side with vanilla buttercream icing, so that I could say I tried all 3 icings, and topped the vanilla buttercream icing side with toasted almond sprinkles.

My finished cupcake.

With the two cupcakes I tried, all I had to say was, "C'est si bon!!" I love x 3 Saint Cupcakes! I just liked the fact that they allow the customer to customize the cupcake at home. The presentation of the cupcakes is just so special and couture-esque. The cupcakes themselves were delicious...a definite indulgence! My mom was definitely a fan too! Let's just say neither one of us left a crumb on the plate, and I certainly owe my dad one. By the way, when you're spreading the icing on the cupcake, you will feel like you just baked a cupcake and putting the icing on the cake, so- to-speak. I felt like Suzie Homemaker or something...so yes, it inspires moments.

I recommend you trying Saint Cupcakes...and if you don't live in the Oregon area, feel free to get them delivered right to your door!
3-pk $10.
MAKES A GREAT GIFT!

NYFW Update: Allison Parris S/S 2011

If you read my post on the Allison Parris S/S 2011 Presentation and looked through the photos, you would've seen a pair of shoes that I felt were snap-worthy. Well, it seems I made a faux pas about the owner. They were not Tracy's assistant, Ashley's shoes...they are owned by Jillian. And in case you were wondering, they are suede grommet Giuseppe Zanotti's. How did I find out? Jillian was fabulous enough to post a comment under the post...and I am so glad that she corrected me and that she reads the blog! Thanks Jillian for the shoe-love update.

Fall-ing Forward for Animal-Free Fashion

This is a guest post by Gabriela of Working Girl's Shoe Closet. The Working Girl is a native California girl that has had a life long obsession with shoes. As a response to help her friends find cute shoes they can wear to the office, she started the Working Girl's Shoe Closet. She gets her inspiration for fashion from celebrities and designers and then reworks them for the everyday girl with an everyday life. She's also on Twitter, so be sure to follow her @WGsShoeCloset. I am so happy she did this post because us sole sisters need to be more aware and conscious of what we put on our feet.

If you’ve ever shopped for vegan shoes, I’m sure you were also asking yourself, “Why do all the shoes imply I have some sort of foot condition?” Fret not my little Fashionisettes. Those of us with the best intentions of shopping for goods that don’t harm animals, or people, are always falling short on chic fashion finds. Well, that was until now. There’s been a huge emergence of several vegan shoe lines that are very eco-chic without a stitch of frump.

One of my most favorite lines is Natalie Portman’s joint venture with a British shoe designer called Beyond Skin. In fact, they created one of my favorite fall finds with this ‘Dita’ pump. The tartan print makes me think of autumn in the East Coast. The approximately 4 ½” heel admonishes the thought that dowdy EVER lived here. I love the art-deco jewels that really give it a sweet polished look to really jazz up that basic black suit or sheath for the office. The major bonus to these pretty pumps are the added padding and flexi-soles that create extra shock absorption to help you stay on your feet during those fun fourteen-hour work days without wishing you could chop off your feet! Purchase Dita here!

Another incredible line is olsenHaus. Not only do they subscribe to respecting all beings, but they subscribe to the creation and design of highly fashionable shoes too. These ‘Enchantment Oxford’ mixes the classic Fall oxford with a mod feel give you a very naughty but nice secretary vibe. The copper gold 3 ½” heel makes the shoe very current and the velvet makes it perfect for pairing it with tights. It also comes in eggplant blue and evergreen velvet embracing all the vibrancy that Fall fashions have to offer. Get Enchantment Oxford here!

Now, you can’t talk Fall fashions without a boot! So, I turn to Cri de Coer for that. Cri de Coer is a somewhat newbie designer to launch eco-chic footwear. Cri de Coer strives to make all their shoes by hand and with sustainable processes that don’t harm the environment. And, they have one of my favorite boots for the Fall, the ‘Felicity Lace-Up Knee Boot’. It has a 3” heel and a roomy 14” boot opening. The toffee leather-looking material is actually dyed canvas. The canvas is a very durable (but not cardboard stiff) canvas that withstands water seepage when you’re caught in the Fall rains. I think it was watching Wynona in Little Women that made me first really want some Victorian inspired boots, and probably why I think I love these so much. You may not have a green thumb to plant a tree, but Cri de Coer sponsors a tree to be planted to help with the reforestation efforts around the world with each purchase. Talk about being cosmopolitan chic! Buy Felicity here!

Lastly, the ‘Bat’ by Mink shoes will revive your inner disco queen. These strappy heels are almost too cha-cha for words! Made from faux patent leather, they are adorned with black stones to sauce up your strappy or strapless LBD in a heartbeat. The shoestring ankle ties also make these dancing shoes stand apart from your other average strappy heels. Get your Mink here!

Thanks to these great do-gooder designers that don’t believe in having to choose one over the other, you can be Fall-ing fashion forward for animal-free fashion this Fall and all year round.

Behind the Runway: BCBG Max Azria

I am a StyleCaster member and love getting their e-mails! So when I saw this exclusive behind-the-scenes look on what goes on pre-fashion show for one of the biggest names in fashion, BCBG Max Azria, I just had to share the video with you. It's a great under 3 minute clip with Lubov Azria, Chief Creative Officer, in which she offers designers and potential models who want to walk for them some fab tips to have a wonderful show.

On models: "...[they should] walk like a tomboy...tough and cool."
"[look for] girls that could beat you up in a dark alley but angelic in the face."

On the runway: "The first 5 looks are the most important looks."

NYFW: My Wrap-Up Post

I can't believe how fast New York Fashion Week went! I am just thrilled that I got a chance to experience it at the new location and saw some really great shows under the tents and out of the tents. Thanks to everyone who made it such a fab week for me!

So, you already know that I was not an official member of the press because I didn't apply with IMG this season. But, did that stop me from getting under the tents? Not a chance. Where there's a will, there's a way. My gal pal Jen and I decided to people watch at Lincoln Center on Tuesday. I won't tell you how we made it through...but it was her first time ever being under any tents for fashion week...so I was happy that all was a success! (Also thanks to my friend, who shall remain nameless for this post.)

After we did our "lay of the land" we sipped Kim Crawford wine, chatted with a guy (whose name I never got) about summer in the Hamptons, walked around Lincoln Center, grabbed Popchips, scored some complimentary Maybelline lipsticks, and sat down at the cafe to people watch. We spotted Robert Verdi, Carson Kressley, Hamish Bowles, Patrick McDonald, and potentially June Ambrose (which I still don't think that was her...long story). I just love people watching, seeing fierce fashionistas in shoes they can't walk in, spotting chic outfits and getting inspired, and just overhearing conversations. It was a great day and we all had fun! By the way, we totes stocked up on our magazines and toted them in the official DHL bag.

Highlight: meeting J. Alexander. He's tall, nice, and has great skin! And I also met Mikki Taylor from Essence magazine. I just wished I told her how much I want to work for their magazine. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Here are some photos I was able to score. *Please disregard how not flattering I look.*

Au revoir NYFW...until next season!!

NYFW: Rolando Santana S/S 2011 Show

The last show on my fashion tour was the Rolando Santana S/S 2011 show at The Griffin. I have to tell you, that venue is absolutely gorge! It's a regal space and was perfect for Rolando's collection. I am proud to say that my fellow PoweRgirl Natasha is his publicist...which is how I got the front row treatment. Thanks Natasha! Whether I sat front row or not, Rolando's show was fabulous...and everyone got a good view of his sophisticated, NYC chic collection.

His collection was very clean and streamlined. I could see myself going to brunch or being a lady of leisure in his collection because that's the image his collection evoked to me. A woman of any age could use Rolando's designs and incorporate his pieces into their sense of style. He had some really pretty usage of sheer organzas, sequins, and lace. The colors complimented all of the models' skin tones. I found his collection to be wearable, fluid, and and effortlessly stylish.

Surprises: Alex McCord from Real Housewives of New York was in the front row. She is no amateur when it comes to wearing Rolando Santana. Malik "So Chic" Sterling, a NY Socialite and just fabulous, was in attendance. It seems we just kept running into each other...and finally we took a photo together. I finally got to meet Sabrina Chapman of Sabrina Chapman PR and Haute Living magazine. I got to enjoy the show with my 2 "beaus" Tyler and Jonathan...so it's always fun.

Now I bring to you my last show of the season...Rolando Santana.

NYFW: G-Star S/S 2011 Show

Words cannot express how excited I was that my doll @eclectik1, Alyssa of Fasshonaburu, invited me to be her +1 to the G-Star S/S 2011 show at Pier 94 on Tuesday night. I was through the roof excited. It always warms my heart when people that I have come to know and ♥ through social media no less, show an act of kindness like inviting me to *Rachel Zoe voice* "May-jor" fashion events. We had a lot of fun...and wound up scoring some uber fab seats before the show! (Yes, we had standing initially, but once the no-shows are confirmed, it's a grab-all first. And to think there were people who were scoffing at seats.)

Loved the show! The music got us going. The fashion was gorge. Loved the background sound of the heels walking the runway (very clever). The color palette was just clean and fresh with looks designed in denims, whites, and camel colors. I almost didn't want the show to end. I fell in love with one dress. It was navy blue, with denim on the top, a criss-cross back, and navy blue flowy fabric that moved as the model walked. I totally see me rocking that!

Surprises: While I didn't officially see him, Matthew Settle from Gossip Girl had a seat in the front row (I saw his seat sticker). "The Jays" were there, Mr. Jay Manuel and Ms. J Alexander, and looked ah-mazing. By the way, funny story about the celeb sightings. Alyssa knew just where to stand to celeb spot. As we were walking to "the spot", I chased (stylishly) after "Mr. Jay" and spoke...well...like a fool. I couldn't even form the words to ask for a photo. Ugh! I know. But, he is gorgeous and just as flawless in person. We spotted hottie Tyson Beckford getting out of his car and talking to some people (I have a photo of him, but not with him *le sigh*). Omarion came out and security and staff were quite rude in blocking people to take photos. I'll never forget the red-head. My theory, celebs come to these shows to be photog'd. There was only like 8 of us there trying to get a photo, but alas I got some photos of him...but not the quality I wanted. Fyi, he is quite short...but still cute.

Enjoy my digital photography below...which thanks to Alyssa I was able to get!

NYFW: Allison Parris S/S 2011 Presentation

On Tuesday, I had the privilege of attending the Allison Parris S/S 2011 Presentation that was held at inside of a NYC suite on Seventh Ave. I thought the setting was perfect because it offered guests a more cozy and intimate environment to really look at her collection. Let me tell you, her collection is effortlessly chic and elegant. There were quite a few pieces I could definitely see me in.

I asked Allison what her inspiration was, and this is what she had to say...
TF: Allison, your collection is so beautiful. I really love it. What was your inspiration for the collection?
AP: I wanted to create pieces that you could wear. I wanted to create pieces that I would wear.

Easy enough right. Well, she nailed it. Some of the designs I could definitely see on Blair Waldorf. Allison kept in trend with the neutral, nude, navy, and cream colors. I appreciated her use of volume when needed (I am a sucker for tulle dresses), and the easy breezyness of it all. Oh, and did I mention her collection is eco-chic? Yes, she also keeps in trend with the best color of all...Green!

Surprises: Tracy from Jerseylicious was there with her mom and assistant. Funny thing is, I knew she looked familiar, but couldn't get it, until it hit me. She was super nice and posed for a photo with me and my fab friend Jonathan. Loved her shoes too! (By the way, she's actually just a little shorter than me. She even took her shoe off to make me feel better. What a doll!)

Enjoy my professional photography below...(oh, so there is a photo of Allison and I. And the fuchsia looking platform peep-toes wore Allison's. They are beyond fierce. The black platform pumps were Tracy's. The suede booties with mini-grommets were Tracy's assistant, Ashley. Okay, now you can enjoy...

NYFW: Richie Rich PopLuxe S/S 2011

Remember the post about Richie Rich inviting 350 bloggers to his premiere show? Well, this doll was fortunate enough to score an invite! Of course I was excited. It was my first show under the new tents, Lincoln Center. I was really curious to see how everything would be set up, because I am so used to Bryant Park...in fact, I thought I would be biased. But, bias no more. I am a fan of Lincoln Center being the official fashion capital during fashion week. While this season I was not an official member of the press (it was $80 this time, and yes, I just didn't want to spend it), I was able to spend some time under the tents and well...I'll always have Richie Rich.

Okay, so to open the show, guests enjoyed ballerinas gracing the stage. It totes made me nostalgic for the time I took ballet/tap/jazz lessons when I was younger. Of course I didn't appreciate it then, but I certainly do now, despite me not taking classes anymore...but I digress. After "Swan Lake", a DJ came out to get the crowd going. However, she was joined with uber talented violionist Kristine Elezay. She was ah-mazing! (By the way, I was enjoying the show with my gorge gal pal Misti. Oh, I forgot to tell you, so we were confirmed for VIP admission...which we found out was code for "standing". But everything worked out, and we got seats before the show started.) Post rocking violinist was the show. Everything you would expect from Richie Rich you saw. I have some faves of course. He even added a S&M-esque portion, which was just great for kicks and giggles.
Surprises: Tinsley Mortimer walked the runway. And ELLEN closed the show!!! Qu'elle Surprise indeed! She walked the runway in true Ellen fashion, face and all. Loved it x 100!

Well...enough of me talking. Take a look at the photos (all taken by me). You'll see what I wore, some crowd shots (esp. the back of a guy who was dressed OOC and didn't want his photo taken...but I took it), and of the runway. Enjoy!

I'm Back

You can jump for joy! You've all waited long enough and it's time for me to start spilling the beans on everything! I have some really fabulous posts for you and I really appreciate your patience. Some of you have sent me e-mails, asking for certain articles and follow-ups, and believe me, I appreciate you not only reading but staying on me. I am also a fashion publicist, so my schedule tends to be quite hectic. But I promise you, within the next few days, I will be doing my best to bring you the best. First up, New York Fashion Week!

Fall for H&M: 2010 Brings Lanvin

First Karl Lagerfeld in 2004. Stella McCartney in 2005. Viktor & Rolf in 2006. 2007 there was Madonna and Roberto Cavalli. 2009 brought Matthew Williamson, Jimmy Choo, and Sonia Rykiel. Enter 2010, Lanvin. One of the oldest French fashion houses is the newest to collaborate with the Swedish clothing chain, H&M.

Designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, the collection will go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide. A special preview of both menswear and womenswear will be leaked November 2nd online.

H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.” - Alber Elbaz
