Thanksgiving 2010! xo, The Fashionisette

Winona Ryder for Marc Jacobs.

Blake and Red and Loubs all over!

Dolls, we all heard about the private and invite-only Louboutin sample sale last week. I seriously don't know what limb I have to cut off or who I need to be bff's with in order to be on the list, but brava to the ladies who get invited! Anywho, S, aka Blake Lively, was spotted last week buying 40 pairs of Loubs at the sample sale. It seems a lot of people have been sounding off, saying that she shouldn't have been there, and that she has more than enough money to buy them retail, but my thoughts? She's one smart cookie. I don't care if I have Oprah money, why spend more than I have to? I am just jealous that she scored 40 pairs. Now she claims she was buying some for her sisters and friends as gifts, my question is, were they all the same size? That's how you'll know if she was just indulging herself or being generous. Another thing is, I have been to this private sale (don't ask how I got in), and I couldn't find 40 styles in my size...so I don't know how she scored so many. But kudos to her and her 40 pairs! (By the way, People StyleWatch did the math for us, and it's estimated that she spent around $9k.)

Charmin has Kim's Bottom Line Covered

So I missed Kim Kardashian yesterday. I was going to work, at yes the Conde Nast building, and since I was running a little late I didn't have time to figure out what was going on. But I saw a red carpet, velvet ropes, a smaller sized crowd, and only a few photogs surrounding a Charmin decorated building. I did also see a black Escalade parked...so I knew some celebrity was around. In true NYC style, no one knew what was going on or who was inside. Since it didn't seem anyone was making a big deal out of it, I went into work curiousity-filled. It was only 6 hours later that I saw on Twitter that it was Kim. Natch, I was disgusted and disappointed at myself for not sticking around or doing more investigative work. So lesson learned. Okay, now that you know my story behind it, I can tell you why she was there.
Kim Kardashian made a public appearance for Charmin's 5th annual Charmin's Restrooms Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in Times Square yesterday (Tuesday). Thank goodness for Charmin's! Now NYC-ers, tourists, and holiday shoppers have a place they can go and not have to worry about buying something first. It is a spacious 15-stall space that's clean (hopefully that lasts) and friendly. In an interview with ABCNews, she mentions the reason why she wanted to collaborate with the beary nice toilet tissue brand was because of her nephew Mason...changing him can be an issue when finding a decent place. In any case, it's always nice to see Kim make her assets relevant.

Fairytale: Prince William and Kate Middleton Engaged

Congratulations to Prince William and Kate Middleton! They are engaged and this, without a doubt, will be the biggest wedding since his parents nuptials. Of special note, Prince William gave Kate his mom's engagement ring. How sweet is that! It's an 18 carat sapphire stone surrounded with diamonds, originally purchased by his dad Prince Charles when he proposed to our always favorite/beloved Princess (and Prince William's mom), Princess Diana. The two got engaged during a recent October vacation in Kenya, and Prince William did ask Kate's dad for her hand prior to the trip. No specific date is set yet, but it is schedule to take place Spring or Summer 2011. I seriously hope it is televised. Well, score one more for the commoners marrying into royalty!

Photo: Rachel Zoe's New Accessory - Baby Bump

Thanks to this photo and scoop by Fashionologie, we get a sneak peek at Rachel Zoe's baby bump. She was out and about this past weekend, and was photog'd at the MOCA Los Angeles gala. We all know Rach likes to wear looser fitting clothes...but it seems now she has a legit reason to. From the scoop, E! reported at the event that Rachel was spotted placing her hand on her belly. Reportedly, RZ is five months and her and Rodge are expecting a baby boy. Awww...Well, maybe Rachel should expand into maternity and baby clothes and really shut it down

Case of the Mondays!

Hope everyone is having/had a great kickoff to the work week! Don't worry, the weekend will be here before you know it.

So, I don't even have to tell you what shoe this is and why it's so iconic. But I have been obsessed with this pair of Blahniks, as I'm sure you all have, ever since they made their debut in SATC. I seriously want to get married in this shoe. Let's face it, my wallet can only afford the "Blah" out of Blahnik. Shoe Quickie: Type Z "Robyn" Platform Pumps

Of course when I can't sleep, I always go ShoeHunting! (By the way, no soles are ever hurt. And you can look at my finds...I'm "Pink Shoes".) As I am perusing platform selections on Shopstyle to add to my ShoeHunting collection, I stop at these cream/black platform pumps by Type Z. Immediately, the ice-cream song played in my head...with my own remix. "You scream. I scream...for these cream and black pumps!" (A shoe lover just thinks differently.) But aren't they just screaming Audrey Hepburn, Chanel, and Blair Waldorf all at once?! I found them on Zappos for $129. They come in 3 color combos: Cream/Black, Grey/Black, Black/Black. Can't say I don't give you great tips!

On the Tele and Socialite-ing: Project Runway and Me

So, this shouldn't be a spoiler at this point, but sorry if it is. I just watched the last episode of Project Runway season 8. As you all know from my previous post, I was seriously rooting for Mondo...and it was so close too. I never saw the judges more split in a decision. But Gretchen Jones was the winner of the season. I won't eat sour grapes, her collection surprised me because there were some pieces I actually liked. What you didn't know is, I loved her model Millana! While I didn't like Gretchen, for obvious reasons, I thought Millana brought a unique look to her designs. Okay, so here is how everything ties in.
Last night, I had the privilege of attending The Fame Movement's first meetup event for Women on the Move at Raika Studio Salon. It was a really great networking event and I am glad I went. I met some really great businesswomen. Well...to my surprise, guess who was there? Millana!! She was there supporting her friend, Taren - who has an amazing YouTube following for women with natural hair, and I just had to meet her. Unfortunately, my gal pal "J" didn't know who she was since she didn't watch this season...but I did! By the way, she is just as pretty in person...as you can see from the pic. Millana was super nice and of course we chatted about, what else? Project Runway. [this conversation is totally not verbatim...but just so you can get an idea.]

Me: You were my favorite model on Project Runway. You have this exotic look and my mom and I were always trying to figure out your ethnicity. But what was it like working with Gretchen?

Millana: Aww thanks. Gretchen is really nice. A lot of my friends and people always ask me what I thought about Gretchen. We're from the same area too, Colorado. Who did you want to win?

Me: Mondo! I wished you were paired with him...but I guess it all worked out for the best, since you won. Haha.

Millana: Yeah. I loved him too.

Me: Well, I didn't like Gretchen because she just seemed too opinionated....and not even about her own stuff, she seemed to have something to say about everyone else.

Millana: Yeah. She did. The fact is there was a lot of creative editing...but she still did say those things. I just wish they put some of the nice things she said too. But she really is nice.

Me: That's good. Well, when does your Marie Claire shoot come out?

Millana: Oh. I am shooting for that tomorrow. I am kind of nervous.

Me: Aww...you'll do great! I'll be sure to look out for it.

That was the convo in a nutshell. But it seems Gretchen might not be so bad after all. It was so cool talking to Millana. She's just a cool girl. And we exchanged business cards. I am sure she rocked the photoshoot today!
