Elizabeth Taylor : February 27, 1932 – March 23, 2011
Forgive me for this late post in acknowledging the death of a classic beauty, icon, and legend, Elizabeth Taylor. She passed away last week Wednesday at the age of 79 due to complications of congestive heart failure. No one could argue her beauty, talent, and class. How fabulous was she that, at her request, her funeral begin 15 minutes after it was scheduled to; as her representative told the media "She even wanted to be late for her own funeral." Even though she is no longer here, her brand will continue to go on. She was definitely a pioneer in the celebrity perfume industry, and Business Week said that White Diamonds, and her other scents will still earn her estate millions of dollars. Last year, her perfume brands earned $69 million worldwide.
Dame Elizabeth Taylor's beauty, business savvy, acting prowess, multiple marriages, awards, charitable efforts, and class is something that will live on.
Elizabeth Taylor Quotes:
"Big girls need big diamonds."
"I adore wearing gems, but not because they are mine. You can't possess radiance, you can only admire it."
"I've only slept with men I've been married to. How many women can make that claim?"
"When people say, 'She's got everything', I've got one answer - I haven't had tomorrow."

Update: SMARTLASH Review
Ok. So you all have waited long enough. I have received a lot of responses and e-mails asking me what happened with my trial of SMARTLASH. [See my original post: The Fashionisette Gets SMARTLashed] I will be very honest with you all. When I first received SMARTLASH, I used it everyday and night. After about 30 days, I did start to see results. I took before and after pictures on my camera, but I suffered a nasty PC virus, and my pics were erased (and naturally quick draw McGraw over here and already deleted the photos off the camera). So I was hesitant to speak on the product since I had no concrete proof to show you all. I used SMARTLASH on my eyebrows and lashes and noticed that both started to thicken. However, once I started slacking off with using the product, I noticed some eyelash fall-out and my eyebrows started to go back to the way they were pre-SMARTLASH. I was pleased with the results, but quickly learned that this is a regimen that needs to be kept up with...as with any product dealing with hair thickening and length promoting.
So my final verdict? I would recommend SMARTLASH to everyone to use. If you follow the instructions, I promise you, you will get results, without all of the scary side effects that the other lash enhancers come with. I didn't finish my bottle, and literally, right before writing this post, I decided to jumpstart my usage again. I'm sure I will need a new bottle soon.
Sorry to keep you all in waiting. But if you're using SMARTLASH, or decide to, please let me know how the product has worked (or even didn't work) for you! I am interested in your results too.

Nate Dogg: August 19, 1969 - March 15, 2011
I was always a fan of Nate Dogg since The Chronic days and it saddened me to wake up this morning to news of his death. I had no idea that this rapper and hip-hop singer was battling so many health issues. Unfortunately, reports say he passed away on Tuesday due to complications from multiple strokes. He was only 41. No one can mimic his musical style and his contributions to the industry will be played for years to come.

NYFW: Au Revoir A/W 11
Even though I am major late, I am saying goodbye to NYFW A/W 11. I had an amazing season and enjoyed all of the shows I was able to attend. I can't wait for next season and hope to bring you even more show coverage! Of course, this post wouldn't be complete without my celeb sightings under and outside the "tents" during NYFW.
Coming out of the Monique Lhuillier show, I got the chance to meet celeb-stylist Crystal from House of Glam (the reality show on Oxygen). She was so nice and showed my gal pal Jen and I her new jewelry collection. If you watched the show, you know she was starting a jewelry collection but was having problems with getting the samples completed. Well it's all finished and I fell in love with the collection, especially the oversized cocktail rings. She was debuting LyraLoveStar during fashion week and I am expecting great things!
After meeting Crystal, I was able to meet another fellow H.O.G'er, celeb stylist Atiba. He was just the best and I couldn't believe he was the stylist behind Prince's concert. Amaze! Both of them were so personable. Oh, and Atiba's shoes definitely needed a picture of their own.
At the Chris Benz presentation, I spotted the fabulous June Ambrose but alas did not get a chance to meet her. I did however spot a true Gossip Girl, Jessica Szohr at the event. She looked gorge and I definitely want her shirt. I should've asked the designer...but instead I asked for a photo.
I have to work on my posing and learn to smize like she did. But oh well. I also spotted Brad Goreski, of Rachel Zoe fame. He was being interviewed by FIT, but I was able to snap a photo.
Eye-spyed other noteworthy media guests during NYFW, such as the wonderful Robert Verdi who was interviewing Fern Mallis.

NYFW: Keo and Mallory Musante Shoes A/W 11 Debut
Emerging designer Keo debuted her Fall/Winter 2011 collection during NYFW at Pearl Studios, which was a different choice, but nice change of venue. The young designer wanted to show off a sexy side to fashion, with the influence being Purple Rain. The collection, called Sexy M.F., definitely set the scene for guests. Keo, who unfortunately is no stranger to health obstacles, forged ahead and designed a collection for a genre that is often neglected. It's definitely for the girl who isn't afraid to take risque chances and be the center of attention.
Keo wasn't the only designer to emerge that night. Upcoming CT based shoe designer Mallory Musante stepped down the runway as well. Mallory Musante Shoes created exclusive looks for the fashion show, and of course an outfit wouldn't be complete without a fierce shoe to top it off! Her handpainted (and yes, each pair is personally handpainted) one-of-a-kind designs were sole-worthy. I am a shoe-nista and wanted each pair of shoes that walked the catwalk. *The Fashionisette also hears that she is having a huge sample sale right now, so check out her designs at www.mallorymusanteshoes.com*

NYFW: Rolando Santana A/W '11
[Yes, I am still posting my NYFW coverage weeks later. If you only knew what I have been going through these past few weeks. I'm sorry for the late posting, but I've kept you waiting long enough.]
I am a BIG fan of Rolando Santana. His collection is always chic, wearable, and sophisticated. He really knows how to dress a curvy woman's silhouette, which I definitely appreciate. I had the pleasure of attending his Fall/Winter 2011 show at Exit Art gallery in NYC and was ready for the show. This season had a darker palette with black playing a central role. You can't lose with a fierce black piece. He also played with feathers and furs, which were to die for, and fabrics such as wool jersey and leather did not fade into the background.
Evening gowns and cocktail dresses stood out on the runway, and had just the right amount of sex appeal without being too revealing. I loved how each model donned black tights with high heels, vixen like lips with soft body wave hair. With the new collection of rich chocolates, deep berries, opulent blacks, and steel grays, you'll definitely want to indulge your closet in the new Fall season.
