MBFW: Nina Skarra S/S 13

My second show on Saturday was the Nina Skarra S/S 13 show at the Avery Fisher Hall promenade. It was a day of getting to know designers that I was unfamiliar with, as I didn't know about Nina either. Well, after this show, I wanted to wear Nina!! Every design that walked down the runway I said I wanted. I am obsessed with her collection. Her use of muted colors with not so muted designs and styling took the focus off of the tornado watch and onto Nina Skarra.

Here is what the run of show said, "Nina Skarra's collections combine the purity of Scandinavian design with the use of traditional sartorial craftmanship, quality fabrics and a sustainable production process. Synonymous with the Nina Skarra design technique, the rich, sustainably sourced fabrics of silk, twill, and wool are brought together seamlessly and graciously. This collection was inspired by Skarra's fond memories of her mother and grandmother as style icons - and, their wardrobes. It incorporates the roaring twenties, symbolizing both her grandmother's fun and rebellious youth, as well as St. Tropez in the 1960's, where her mother spent time as a model. The Spring/Summer 2013 collection brings together inspiration not only from their closets, but also from their personalities, sense of style, natural grace and desire for quality. The color palette includes blush pinks and ivory, combined with silver tones and sky blue hues. The unexpected contrasts among fabrics and textures create an air of refined glamour, a key component of the Nina Skarra Spring/Summer 2013 collection."

This collection was my top fave of all fashion week. It was fluid, sophisticated, timeless, and classic. I loved it's easy breezy chic. Brava to Nina Skarra for an outstanding collection!
