Beauty Guest Post: Blinc your way to Fab Lashes

Today, Arie Rich of KMPBLOG.com shares with us her latest favorite mascara. You can catch Arie on Twitter at @ArieRich.
I am not a girl that wears a lot of makeup, but there are some essential makeup items that I always have, that includes: lip glosses, foundation or tinted moisturizers, bronzer and of course mascara. This post is about this one amazing mascara I was recently introduced to and how it'll probably be the only mascara I will ever use.
While at the International Beauty Show here in NYC I attended a beauty seminar that talked about Makeup for TV and how to make sure your makeup looks the best. During this seminar, one of the participants mentioned this mascara called blinc and how she much she loves it. The speaker second her comment and even gave us a story about how the mascara stays put, even on bad times. Apparently blinc believes that you shouldn't paint your lashes, you should tube them.
BLINC Mascara

The blinc mascara creates like a tube around your lashes and stays put without any mess. You can rub your eyes, cry, etc... and it won't give you messy raccoon eyes.
blinc mascara is the perfect mascara for anyone with sensitive eyes; it is water resistant, and only comes off with hot/warm water. blinc recommends removing the mascara while you are in the shower, the hot water opens up the tubes which makes it easy to remove without mess. I purchased my own blinc mascara and I love it. My lashes do not look spidery, the mascara holds well and looks great. No smudges or messes from blinking while the mascara is still wet or from rubbing my eyes. Lashes are well defined and they looks very natural.
BLINC Long Lash

I also made another blinc purchase just to give it a try, I bought the blinc Long Lash. It is a liquid solution you apply to your eyelids to make your lashes grow. Similar to Latisse, but according to blinc, their Long Lash does not irritates your eyes nor eye discoloration after use. The Long Lash is recommended to be used for 2 to 4 weeks, morning and night. I have been using it for a few days now, and I'm hoping it works because I could use a few extra lashes, and hopefully not need falsies anymore. The Long Lash can also be used to help your eyebrows grow, especially in spots where it doesn't grow, and can be used for your bottom lashes as well.
So there you have it, a hot new product on the market today, that we should give it a try.

On The Tele: Linds as Liz

We all remember this cover of Interview magazine in June '06 which pictured Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor. Then, there was nothing confirmed about her getting the part. Of course over the years LiLo had her share of public drama and now she's back and focused it seems. So it's no surprise that it's confirmed that she has the role of portraying movie star beauty legend Liz Taylor. I'm thrilled to see Lindsay back to acting, as I miss her Mean Girls and Confessions of Teenage Drama Queen days. The movie, Liz & Dick, will air on Lifetime, and no release date has been announced yet...nor do we know who will play Richard Burton.

What do you think? Are you excited to see Lindsay play Elizabeth Taylor?

TV News: Bethenny Frankel gives Skinny girl Talk

New York's Skinnygirl Bethenny Frankel will be getting her own talk show. Well, it's really a six-week test run, but still. Bethenny (as the show will be called) is a daily talk show that will feature "Bethenny’s no-nonsense perspective on everything from pop culture and current events to relationships, beauty, fitness and lifestyle segments... The program will be an honest, informative and entertaining destination, where daytime viewers can learn, laugh and get inspired," according to an announcement from THR. Her test run will start June 1st on six FOX owned TV stations. If all goes well, her show could be nationally syndicated starting Fall 2013. So what do you think...would you watch Bethenny?

Fashion News: Cinderella gets a pair of Louboutins

"But, you see, I have the other slipper."
A pair of shoes can change your life - just ask Cinderella, right? It seems Christian Louboutin is designing a real life pair of glass slippers in honor of Disney’s Diamond Edition of “Cinderella”  being re-released this fall. The combo-pack includes two Blu-Ray discs and a DVD with bonus features celebrating this classic animated feature, that was first released in 1950. I can't believe this movie is this old, and yet, it never gets old...because fairytales never age. “I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as well as the dream world,” Louboutin said to WWD. No images have been released, but be sure to Like the Cinderella facebook page on updates. The Diamond Edition of Cinderella is set to be released on October 2nd, and the Louboutin glass slippers will be released around that time. I can't wait to see these glass slippers with the red bottom magic touch. May not have Prince Charming to slip them on, but if Louboutin builds it he will come.

Style Snaps: Solange Knowles in Stéphane Rolland

Solange Knowles, who is quickly becoming my stylicon and stepping from out under her sister's shadow, attended the 6th Annual DKMS Linked Against Blood Cancer Gala on Thursday night in a perfectly tailored white peplum gown by Stéphane Rolland. The 'S' in Solange definitely stands for style, so I can see why she opted for this gown. It's gorge!!! And peplum is another season obsession. Unfortunately, I have to take off points for lack of facial color. I loved the sleek bun and natural face, as not too many celebs go au natural on the red carpet. But not even so much as a bold lip? Everything else worked, even down to the minimal accessories. I just needed Solange to pull it all together with a bold lipstick. In any case, kudos for Knowles for this red carpet look.

What do you think of her look?

Shoe Love Quickie: Barbara Bui

Ok. Ok. I know. I am obsessed with color-blocking. I can't help it. I am in love with the idea of it, especially when it's the right combo of colors. Like these suede color block sandals a la Barbara Bui. And since I am a big belt wearer, this black buckle ankle strap is a fab detail for someone like me. Now, I need to get a pedi before I even think about shopping for sandals.

Thursday Love: Is a Marriage Proposal Deadline Appropriate?

Jewel of wisdom du jour: Something worth having...is something worth waiting for.

I can't help but feel some kind of way with regards to this topic. Being the traditional guy that I am, I feel that the proper way of doing things is for a proposal to happen when the timing is right and there's no pressure being put on a guy to pop the question.

Now...what I've just said is pretty much an ideal situation. I'm writing this in hopes that women will understand that pressuring a guy to propose before he's ready...doesn't mean that he will actually propose...and also doesn't mean that if he does...that the relationship will last.

I know a woman who'd dated a guy for over a year and felt in her opinion that the time was right for him to propose...so she put a deadline on his proposal. She told him that he had 6 months to propose or the relationship would be done. That's a pretty bold thing to do...especially since you don't know if he's been seriously contemplating whether to take your relationship there. If you're feeling confident and want to test whether or not he'll comply with your wishes....be my guest. But don't say you haven't been warned.

Men like to feel in control...and if a guy has been dating you for over a year and the idea or possibility of marriage hasn't been brought up...then I'd suggest to start gently hinting around the idea. Real men who are involved with a woman for that length of time (even if they haven't brought it up) have thought about whether or not they're going to marry you. He'll likely deny it if you ask him....but trust me...he's thought about it.

The key in these situations is to not make demands....because it makes you look desperate...and it forces his hand and makes him feel like he's not doing something he genuinely WANTS to do.

Give him some time...and allow him to get to the point of proposing on his own and things will go much smoother.

Also...don't try to put ideas into his head of HOW he should propose. You have a whole wedding to plan out exactly as you've wished it to be since you were seven years old. The proposal is HIS opportunity to express how he feels about you...and it should be HIS plan and HIS PLAN ALONE as to how he asks you to marry him.

Now...after the woman I mentioned earlier put a 6 month deadline on her boyfriend proposing....he did propose within that time-frame....but then about 6 months into their engagement....he realized that he'd proposed because she WANTED him to...and he decided he wasn't ready to be married and ended the relationship.

Ladies....I beg you....BE PATIENT! It'll happen! And if it seems that he's dragging his feet....there are better ways of having that conversation with him than putting a deadline on a proposal!

Hello Glamberous ones,
Life sure has been busy and so has the stork! BIG baby news is buzzing around Celebtown!

First up, "Transformers" star Megan Fox is reported to be expecting her first child with hubby and 90's heartthrob Brian Austin Green. Now the issue with this is that preggo rumors for Fox have been swirling around for ages but NOW it is believed to be true this time. This will mark the second child for Green, he has a son from a previous relationship. The couple is reported to be very excited about the unexpected bundle of joy.

Next we have Tamera Mowry. The other half of the "Sister, Sister" duo is expecting her first baby with husband Adam Housley. US Weekly can confirm that the happy couple will welcome their little nugget come this November. How cute is it that Tia and Tamera will be moms together and wouldn't it be even cuter if Tamera had twins! Congrats to both expecting mommies!

Fashion High for Less: Isabel Marant vs Jessica Buurman

Isabel Marant. Willow high top sneakers. $760
Lo and behold...look at what I found. Remember it took me a while to love the whole wedge heeled sneaker trend right (here's the post in case you need to jog your memory - Trendspotting: Wedge Heel Sneakers). So last night, along with the other shoe finds I posted from my new site obsession, I come across the Isabel Marant Willow sneakers look alikes. It's crazy how much they resemble each other. Jessica Buurman is my new fashion leading lady. It's hard to get the originals, they're sold out everywhere. But, if you didn't want to commit to that designer price, maybe you can commit to this price tag instead - $159.

While the weather tries to make up its mind, my mind is focused on finding affordable pieces to add to my S/S shoe-drobe. Remember these sparkly Miu Miu glitter and suede ankle booties? Well, they're sold out now (even the black) from the stores I was checking, but thanks to my late night find, I found a twinsie! Jessica Buurman cloned the booties and put her own twist to them at a more splurge-worthy cost. Check them out. Almost exact right? They're still the perfect Spring conversation piece.

Bling Thing: The Ah Ring

Raise your right pinkie ladies!
Ok Beyonce. It seems he didn't like it, so he didn't put a ring on it. We've been here before right ladies? Meanwhile our girlfriends across town are popping up with the bling and adding to our 27 Dresses that we will never wear again. So what should us sexy stylish singles to do? Well, we throw on our Louboutins and press on. We're not the type to mope. But, yes, as we sit around the table and all the sparkle from everyone's ring finger gets stuck in our eyes as we sip our wine and smile (and they're secretly setting us up as if we're charity cases), it couldn't hurt to have something to shine back in their faces. Enter the Ah Ring. And yes, it does make you go ahhh...in a good way. It's genius! The Ah Ring is the first and only ring specifically designed for single ladies. It's a modern 14K white gold band that features eleven round full-cut diamonds (totaling .21 points) that was designed to accommodate your most neglected finger, your pinkie. And we're in good company dolls, celeb singles like Oprah, Tyra, Anne Hathaway, Serena Williams, and Teri Hatcher rock their Ah Rings proudly. Can our engaged girlfriends say the same? We've all heard of the right hand rings, but this is a ring to raise your pinkies to. As we walk down that aisle, to shop for bridal gifts that is, we can look at our Ah Ring and celebrate that we're Available (A) and happy (h) as the cute sales guy reaches for that Keurig coffee maker we can check off the registry. We may not have the guy dolls, but we still have the bling! And we didn't need the guy to get it for us, plus we still have money left over for that fab sample sale and a mani (your nails have to be polished to wear diamonds). Finally a diamond we can call all our own!

Fashion High for Less: Giuseppe Zanotti vs Jessica Burrman

Giuseppe Zanotti. Color block sandal.
$695. Net-a-porter.
I have been eye-ing these Giuseppe Zanotti color-block patent leather sandals all season. I have mental pictures of my summer sporting these everyday. You know how it is ladies when you want a pair of shoes so badly you're dreaming them. So last night I was doing some late online perusing and came across my new online store obsession, Jessica Buurman. It seems this designer has mastered the art of creating designer inspired pieces for less. While nothing can ever top the real thing, a quality substitute can still give you a high.

You're Invited: GUESS 30 Sexy Years Private Anniversary Event

You're Invited: GUAM Beauty Mud "April Pop Over" Event

It's the perfect time for a beauty sale! The weather is nice and GUAM Beauty products are just what I need to make sure that I am looking fabulous, in case I opt for something other than a maxi dress this season. (P.S. 50% off is just the incentive I need too!)

ADmiring: H&M+ Swimwear Ad

I saw this ad a couple of days ago on Facebook...and you might have too. While I am not sure if this is a definite ad for H&M, I sure am hoping so! I love when I see ad campaigns featuring what the average woman looks like and I would love to see more mainstream fashion collections do so.

What do you think of the H&M Swimwear ad for fuller-figured women?

Trend Obsession: Maxi Skirts

Diana Agron
Beyonce
I am a fashion sucker for a maxi dress. When summer time comes that is usually what you can find me in, because I can just slip it on, go, and look effortlessly stylish. Well...now it seems that I might be cheating with its little sister, the maxi skirt. And like the wedge heel sneaker, it took me a while to come around to this trend. Now I can't get enough of it. It's just as easy breezy as the maxi dress but allows you to show off more of your personal style with your choice of top, shoes, and accessories. This season I will be filling my closet with maxi skirts and tank tops, although the way Diana Agron styled her look I may need to throw in the occasional white shirt too. And sorry, while hats are in too, you won't see me sporting one like Beyonce (which personally I think she could've done without).

Here are my maxi skirt picks. I thought it might help with your shopping in case you're a maxi skirt lover...or soon to be one.

Shoe Quickie: Charlotte Olympia Pom Sandals

So, I couldn't choose just one pair of shoes for today's shoe quickie. Hey, sometimes you have to go two rounds. With the weather bringing in the heat and sunshine, you have to have a pair of sandals that remind you of why being a girl in the S/S seasons is best. These Charlotte Olympia Pomeline crepe de chine sandals are just so pretty. I am definitely cheering them on! It's shoes like this that make me happy to be a lady.

Charlotte Olympia Pomeline crepe de chine sandals. Net-a-porter. $1,295.

Shoe Quickie: SWEET Curve Heel Sling backs

Today's shoe quickie is brought to you by SWEET. Seems like such an appropriate name too right? I was perusing Topshop, a place I often neglect and not on purpose, and came across these colorblocking sling backs. There is nothing big that stands out per se, but I think it is the simplicity of the design that kills you softly. I definitely want to add them to my shoe-drobe! And if you do too, they still have a variety of sizes available.

SWEET CURVE HEEL SLING BACKS. $150. Topshop.

Celebration: The Fashionisette Turns 2!!!

I can't believe it. 2 years has gone by so quickly. This April 2012 marks the 2 year bloggerversary of The Fashionisette. Did we reach the terrible twos? I hope not. Although, I still throw a tantrum when a pair of shoes are sold out in my size, but that's reasonable. I want to THANK YOU for helping me make it this far!! I started a lot of blogs before falling in love with this one and a lot of you have been with me through all of the transitions. A lot of online sites focus on fashion, or style, or beauty, or food, or celebrities. But since my life encompasses everything, there was no way I can focus on just one thing. I love fashion, style, beauty, food, and celebrities (the good ones anyway) and I wanted to share all of it with you. So, I hope you love this place as much as I do.

I can't believe how far it's come (the very first post was on April 6, 2010), and I can't wait to see how far it goes!

{A special thanks goes to the writers behind the Thursday Love, Glambergirl Alert, Photoshoot Fresh Series, and other guest writers who "complete me".}

With all my fashion love!
The Fashionisette
xoxo

(P.S. take a look to the right, see the poll? Let me know what you'd like to see more of, so we can celebrate our 3rd year in better style.)

The Glambergirl Alert: Tupac Back?

Yo and Hello Glamberous ones!

Just like the entertainment world, things have been super busy for me so I do apologize for my absence. I feel like we haven't talked in forever...so I had to check-in to tell you about the greatest music event. EVER! Well the coverage for this event sure made it seem like it was.

People are calling Coachella the 2012 version of Woodstock. Coachella is a music and arts festivals where tons and tons of people gather in Indio, California to celebrate and enjoy all things music. Weekend one just wrapped up, April 13-15, and the countdown to weekend two is already underway. Big names like Katy Perry, Rihanna, Wiz Khalifa, Florence Welch, Snoop Dogg and Tupac (I'm going to get to that) were some of the many to appear at huge concerts over the weekend.

And yes you heard correct. Deceased rapper Tupac made a hologrammed debut that people are still buzzing about and for great reason! To think how great technology is, that a performance like that could even be done is mind blowing. Down to the mannerisms and collaboration with Snoop Dogg on stage, it was truly a great performance. How do you feel about the performance?

Fancy Scribbles: Parker Pen is fave for Shark Tank co-star

Daymond John, CEO of FUBU
Parker Premier
Black Lacquer
 pen.
$165

My recent new TV obsession is Shark Tank. I just jumped on board because I kept hearing everyone talk about it and decided it was time for me to watch. While I am not consistent, I am a fan (when I do watch). So when I got an email from my PR friend telling me that Daymond John, CEO of FUBU and co-star of Shark Tank signs his deals with Parker Pens, specifically the Premier Black Lacquer GT model...you just know I had to jump in. First, I am a fan of Daymond, and second I remember having a Parker pen in High School and not really understanding it's clout at the time (but mine wasn't anything too fancy - and if you ask me where it is now, I have no clue). Now I can definitely appreciate it, as I am picky about my pens. Well, Daymond said he inks his lucrative investment deals with a “sexy Parker Pen writing instrument.” A pen has to be good if it is worth a mention. So what's so special about this model? It is available in four finishes and three modes (ballpoint, rollerball and fountain). Parker Premier also combines three manufacturing techniques – lacquering, chiseling and plating – into a single, modern design. Some other features include that it is created from more than 20 components and 30 separate parts, and is given four coats of  deep gloss black lacquer with 23K gold plated trims. All to create a classic, sophisticated look. The balance of design, precious materials and Parker’s excellent writing technology offer unbeatable comfort and perfect ink flow for anything you're jotting down or putting your John (Jane) Hancock to. So, to my surprise one showed up to my door! And when I mean to my door, I don't mean in a mailbox...actually hand delivered to my door. Fancy huh? And I live in Brooklyn, so there are no messenger services over here like in Manhattan. My Parker Pen came in a nicely wrapped gift bag and inside was my pen. My PR friend is a total rockstar!!! (Thanks T!!!!!) He totally made my day. It may not be the same model as Daymond's, but a Parker pen is a Parker pen. [Update: it is the same model as Daymond's.] You can't lose with any of the models you get. I'm in love with this pen! It writes so smooth and I do feel fancier (you know how little details can do that to you). Now I can't wait to ink some deals myself.

Get to know Parker and pick out a pen for you to write your own story! Parker pens and pencils.
