I was invited to see Jorge Vega Umana's Spring 2014 collection during fashion week, but unfortunately couldn't attend. But looking at the photos, I wish I was there to see it in person. So I thought I would share the photos (gotta love professional shots...instead of my occasional blurry ones) and information on the collection and designer with you all...in case you're not familiar like I was. Jorge Vega Umana is a Nicaraguan designer who resides in New York City. This collection is his third time showing during NYFW, but this was his first runway show (and his first foray into menswear). For this collection, he was inspired by the Sacuanjoche flower (Frangipani), the national flower of Nicaragua. “The flower has all these different colors and that is the palette for the collection…mandarin, sunlight, lime, and it has a soft, but structured shape,” Jorge quoted. From the looks of his collection, he has a very nice tailored and modern sophisticated aesthetic. The colors definitely make me long for a Spring filled with citrus, vanilla, lemonades, and sorbets. And I do love a runway filled with wearable pieces. I can't wait to see what he has in store next season!
