Every season, since my first Rolando Santana experience for his S/S 11 collection, my love for his designs grows. His show is literally the show I look forward to seeing. And it's for one simple reason, from start to finish his collection is breathtaking. I want every piece off of the runway from H to T. So of course his Spring 2014 collection was no different, especially since he was inspired by the iconic Frida Kahlo. Rolando is such a talent when it comes to tailoring, fabrics, silhouettes, and creating this balance of attainable fashion with the fantasy and allure that the runway brings. I think every woman can see themselves in his collection. [Yes, I gush when I speak about him.] His runway was filled with a soft color palette of nudes, whites, yellows, lavenders, and a sprinkle of floral. We all know I am sucker for anything peplum, so his finale piece of a white peplum suit made me live. I also loved the use of exposed zippers, it was a nice surprise when the models walked past. I loved that he used a nude pointy toe pump (a Blahnik collaboration). By the way, I felt like I fit right in that Wednesday night because I was wearing my black peplum top with an exposed zipper in the back with my Betsy Johnson nude pumps. I say it every season, but my closet will NOT be complete unless I have something Rolando in my size.
Here are some photos of his collection...taken by yours truly.
Watch the finale runway walk of his collection...enjoy!
P.S. Here I am at the show! I am wearing my Betsy Johnson nude pumps I got at T.J. Maxx for $49.99, Walter pants from Marshall's for $29.99, Steve Madden bag from T.J. Maxx for $29.99, and black peplum top I got at Marshall's for $19.99.
