NYFW: SIKI IM S/S 14

Hey dolls and kens! I can't believe how long it has taken me to cover NYFW and MBFW for you. I was knocked out with a cold...of which I can still do a voice-over for Fran Drescher if she has laryngitis...but I am feeling much better. So hopefully you still care about fashion week.

I kicked off my fashion week this season with menswear designer SIKI IM. To be honest, this was my first time hearing of him. His show was on Monday (Sept. 9th), and I knew I was in for something different because the show was held in a NYC parking garage. Different right? I thought if anything, he succeeded with creativity, and this heightened my curiosity for sure. His Spring 2014 collection was called Remorse and when I saw a quote from Crime and Punishment I knew this would definitely be different. Think prison and hospital institutions with a liberating feel. The clothes weren't restricting at all (nor done in orange or stripes), but offered oversized jumpsuits, paper nylon raincoats, and classic separates that have been reworked in proportions. The color scheme was very minimal with whites, grays, black, and neutrals. The collection dared you to think outside of the walls.

Unfortunately, my phone camera was acting up that day, so the photos I took of the show are a little blurry. I am borrowing some professional shots from WWD. But these photos of the venue are all mine...and so is the finale runway video below.
