NFW: Nina Athanasiou Fall 2014

Nina Athanasiou
My Nolcha Fashion Week experience, as I realized I never did finish, continues with womenswear and menswear designer Nina Athanasiou showcased her Fall 2014 collection. I knew I was in for a show when I saw the first model walk out with an exaggerated fro. You could tell the energy in the room elevated as a result. Big hair always does least for me. I liked her mix of strong with delicate silhouette that she achieved with leather and silk fabrics. For this collection she was inspired by Balkan culture along with Asian influences from ninjas, samurais, and geishas. It's always nice to see a co-ed runway. The gents wore very very tailored looks that would take a certain type of guy to pull the look off. But I can definitely see pieces that can be taken to individualize a look. The bonus came when gender-bending female top model Elliot Sailors modeled both womenswear and menswear...which was the first season of Elliot doing both on the same runway. I really enjoyed her runway show and am looking forward to seeing more of her next season.

Take a peek at her collection...

Here is the runway finale walk...
